Biography

John Berthold is a photographer dedicated to documenting unique individuals, compelling stories and sensitive moments throughout the world. A close up and intimate relationship with his subject matter, as well as a keen attention to fine details is what differentiates Berthold’s work from other photographers. The challenge of having to make split second decisions in completely new environments day after day is what drives him forward to succeed. Having the courage, energetic drive, and reassuring calm demeanor in order to photograph complete strangers in a foreign country are only part of the passionate set of photographic skills John Berthold has developed over the last twenty years. Completed and on-going projects include the book ‘Bhutan Land of the Thunder Dragon’ published by Wisdom Publications in 2005 as well as short essays documenting rural life in the Americas, Africa, the Arabian Gulf and Asia.
